BBA donates $110,000 to Indspire

  1. The money donated by the consulting engineering firm will help financially support a group of Indigenous students throughout their post-graduate studies.

BBA is proud to announce its partnership with Indspire, a national Indigenous charity that invests in First Nations, Inuit and Métis education. By providing students with financial support for their post-secondary education, Indspire helps them reach their full potential, which benefits them, their communities and, of course, Canada.

Today, the firm is very pleased to be signing a three-year partnership agreement, during which it will make a total donation of $110,000 to the organization through the Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships, and Awards program. This money will help financially support five Indigenous students throughout their academic studies, covering expenses such as tuition, housing, food and travel, as well as providing cultural support. Indspire and BBA will select the recipients.

“Mentoring will be an integral part of this partnership,” explains Renée-Claude Turgeon, Chief People and Sustainability Officer at BBA. “In fact, BBA will guide students in their learning to help them make the most of their studies and maximize their success.”

“The work Indspire does would not be possible without the support of partners like BBA,” said Indspire’s President and CEO Mike DeGagné. “This generosity not only helps us support more Indigenous learners on their educational journeys. It also represents a strong commitment to reconciliation through education – one which we hope will similarly inspire other organizations.”

As a consulting engineering firm, BBA’s ability to be a catalyst for change and to support the industry in its transition to a sustainable future relies primarily on its people’s expertise and know-how. This donation is part of a commitment to develop the talent of today and tomorrow and reaffirms BBA's desire to support Indspire's vision of enriching Canada through access to Indigenous education.

“Indspire is a remarkable organization that invests in Indigenous people to help them reach their highest potential. By getting involved with them, BBA is demonstrating that it shares similar values with the communities it serves,” says Art Cunningham, Indigenous Elder and Knowledge Keeper, Round Table Consulting Inc., and strategic advisor to BBA.
