BBA helps engineers-in-training to get licensed in British Columbia

  • News

As a firm that believes in the importance of expert knowledge, BBA is committed to developing the next generation of engineers through a number of different initiatives. Recently, BBA was certified as an accredited employer under a special program run by Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC), the professional body that governs engineers in that province.

  1. The program aims to make it faster and easier to process and assess applications for the professional engineer (P.Eng.) designation.

Accredited employers work with EGBC to offer work environments that ensure engineers-in-training (EITs) are able to satisfy the experience requirements when applying for professional certification. EITs also receive guidance from BBA supervisors and mentors.

EITs who participate in the program can see their application processing times greatly reduced—from four months to less than one—which is welcome news for all parties, particularly in light of the current labour shortage.

Fewer than 30 firms have been certified as accredited employers to date.
