For many years, the Aon Best Employer Program has been the key reference in assessing the quality and performance of workplaces across Canada. The detailed analysis of the opinions of BBA employees and leaders indicates an overall engagement rate of 75%, which means that most employees speak positively about the employer, show a strong desire to remain with the organization and intend to excel within the firm.
About the Aon Best Employers in Canada study
In all, 236 Canadian employers were surveyed this year for the Aon Best Employer studies. Aon’s methodology is backed by 20 years of knowledge and best practices identified in Aon Best Employer and employee engagement surveys conducted around the world. Responses to the employee survey from each participant about engagement, leadership, performance culture and employer brand were compared with those in the Aon Hewitt Canadian survey database, which contains the opinions of over 625,000 Canadian workers in over 600 organizations. Organizations that ranked among the first 25% in the Canadian database obtained Platinum Level, while those in the first third received Gold Level. Based on Aon Hewitt’s definition, employees are engaged when they “say, stay, strive”: they speak positively about their employer to others, demonstrate the desire to stay with the firm and are motivated by management and the firm’s culture to excel in contributing to the firm’s success. On average, 80 per cent of employees who work with Platinum Level Aon Best Employers were engaged this year. Organizations at Gold Level found 72 per cent of employees were engaged.
