Maurice Brisson announced his donation of $500,000 to Polytechnique Montréal as part of “Campus Montréal” a major fundraising campaign that includes HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and the Université de Montréal.

  1. As a way of supporting the school’s teaching and research mission, Mr Brisson has earmarked his gift to finance the Fonds de bourses Maurice Brisson (scholarship fund). The scholarships will be awarded annually to full-time students in master’s degree electrical engineering programs linked to the energy sector.

After earning a bachelor’s (1971) and master’s (1973) degree in electrical engineering science from Polytechnique Montréal, Maurice Brisson went on to enjoy a stellar career at the BBA engineering consulting firm. His high-level expertise on medium- and high-voltage electrical networks is widely recognized. Despite a very demanding professional life, he has always maintained a strong commitment to his alma mater by encouraging the next generation of electrical engineers and by consolidating the philanthropic culture at Polytechnique Montréal.

In recognition of his commitment and generosity, a lab at the Institut en génie de l’énergie électrique (IGEE) has been named the Laboratoire Maurice Brisson in his honour.
