BBA Honoured at the 2016 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards Gala
Mont-Saint-Hilaire (Québec), October 25, 2016 – BBA received the Award of Excellence at the 2016 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards Gala held in Ottawa on October 25. The firm was honoured in the Natural Resources, Mining, Industry and Energy category for its work on a major project carried out with Enerkem, a company specializing in the production of renewable biofuels and chemicals made from non-recyclable waste.

In addition to the Award of Excellence in this category, BBA won one of the five prestigious awards, the Tree For Life Award, which recognizes projects that stand out for their environmental stewardship.

Enerkem Alberta Biofuels Project – Clean energy from non-recyclable waste
Enerkem Alberta Biofuels is the world’s first commercial biorefinery that converts non-recyclable household garbage into clean, renewable energy. BBA was chosen by Enerkem for its industrial expertise to provide detailed engineering for the successful development of its game-changing plant.
Sound engineering and diverse innovations were key to move from research and development to commercial application. Calculated greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 110,000 tons of CO2 per year through less landfilling.
