Having developed a close professional relationship in the Shawinigan Engineering group, Réjean M. Breton and Jean-Louis Banville decided to work together in 1979. They wanted to provide high-level engineering expertise and leading-edge solutions, firmly rooted in values that included respect, commitment, team spirit, collaboration and accountability.
The years that followed confirmed these lofty objectives. Many new graduates joined the firm, attracted by the stimulating challenges it offered. Wanting to apply their newly acquired knowledge, they eagerly took on the tasks and projects assigned to them. It was with this core of dedicated professionals that the young company made its mark among the giants of engineering... with tremendous drive and openness.
Over the years, BBA carved out a niche and diversified its sphere of activities by welcoming partners from complementary fields of expertise:
In 1998, in order to broaden its range of services and continue its expansion, BBA acquired Comeau, Boyle inc., a firm specialized in power systems, electrotechnology, advanced control, automation and instrumentation. The following year, it acquired Secome, whose industrial mechanical engineering expertise strengthened BBA's service offerings.
In 2004, a group of leading mining and metallurgy experts joined BBA, which continued to expand in this field of activity.
In 2009, BBA entered the Western Canadian market by opening a new office in Vancouver, British Columbia. That same year, BBA integrated the expertise of MENSOFT Technologies Inc., a consulting firm specializing in the inspection, topographic surveying and technical analysis of heavy civil engineering structures.
In 2010, the company opened a permanent office in Labrador City, Newfoundland. In addition, BBA integrated the expertise of Sequoia Engineering LLP, a North Vancouver-based electrical engineering consulting firm working primarily in the power generation and mining industries.
In 2011, experiencing exceptional growth over the past five years, BBA opened two additional offices, one in Brossard and the other one in Québec City. The latter office boasts a team of experts in process control optimization and advanced control thanks to BBA's integration of the company Top Control in March 2011.
