PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In collaboration with another subsidiary, Fraser Papers installed a new 22 MW steam turbine in its mill located in Berlin, New Hampshire. The work was carried out in conjunction with the installation of a new 200,000 lb/h gas-fired boiler. The boiler supplies the steam required to fully operate the turbine, and also allows the elimination of non condensable gases (NCG) and stripper off gases (SOG) as residuals of pulp production. This would make the installation compliant with the new environmental regulations. As the Owner's Engineer, BBA's mandate consisted of the following:?

Define the project with:

  • Preliminary estimates
  • Review of the documentation and original definition of the project
  • Review of the environmental aspects
  • Review of the cogeneration aspects and use of existing steam network?
  • Produce all the documents necessary for an RFP
  • Design criteria, equipment specifications
  • Drawings and flow diagrams, process integration
  • Assume the coordination of the RFP process
