PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Agnico-Eagle Mines commissioned BBA to carry out a feasibility study of two Santo Nino Mines in Chihuahua, Mexico. The first was Santo Nino main deposit, and the second, Oberon Weber, was a satellite deposit.

During the project, BBA was in constant contact with Agnico-Eagle's Mexican staff to ensure that planning estimates were consistent with Mexican operating costs (fuel costs, electrical power, labour costs, productivity, etc.). The scope of work included:

  • Computer-aided mining pit optimization
  • Detailed design with ramps and accesses
  • Design of tailings areas
  • Projection of mining dilution rates
  • Mine planning
  • Establishment of mining equipment needs
  • Operating cost estimates
