PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As part of this project, BBA was mandated by its client to produce a 230 kV interconnection between the Ontario network (OHSC, Ontario Hydro Service Company) and its client's network. To that end, engineering, construction site monitoring, supply and commissioning work was carried out under the responsibilities described below. In short, the project consisted of re-engineering the electrical substations and installing a 240/120 kV - 180/240 MVA autotransformer, while designing an oil recovery tank and an oil separator well.  BBA was responsible for managing the project, both administratively and technically.

  • Preliminary and detailed engineering (plans and specifications) of all facilities required from the civil, instrumentation and control points of view
  • Preparing all required specifications
  • Preparing calls for tenders, analysing the tenders, proposing the bidder retained, and documenting the choice to the satisfaction of BBA's client
  • Purchasing equipment and materials and awarding contracts to contractors
  • Monitoring the construction site according to its client's standards and requirements
  • Cost control
  • Preparing and controlling timetables for building and commissioning the main interconnection equipment
  • Adjusting protection relays
  • Testing and commissioning the equipment
  • Project administration, secretarial and accounting services
  • Monthly coordinating meetings with its client and Hydro-Québec to validate the progress of work and the costs and expenses incurred
  • Writing the operating guidelines of the new network and providing related training
