PROJECT DESCRIPTION 

Chaudière Water Power Inc. requested BES to provide a comprehensive Dam Safety Review for the Chaudière Dam structure, equipment and operation on the Ottawa River as required by the Québec Dam Safety laws and regulations. In collaboration with BES, BBA performed the dam electromechanical equipment review. The tasks performed consisted of the following: 

• Review of the Owner's documentation on maintenance, rehabilitation and modification history regarding the dam's equipment
• Review of the equipment maintenance, inspection and operation practices
• Inspection of the electrical and mechanical equipment
• Witnessing manoeuvres and operation of the equipment
• Assessment of the dam safety regarding the capacity of the equipment to safely regulate the water level in normal and exceptional conditions
