PROJECT DESCRIPTION
BBA was commissioned to carry out the preliminary study of the behaviour of electrical and mechanical components in order to increase the alternators' power from 22.6 MVA to 26 MVA. The services provided included:
- Power increase study with electrical and mechanical simulations to validate component capacities

- Assessment of the potential application of the rotating diode technology to the main existing exciters

- Optimization of thurst bearing lubrification by installing an oil injection system and applying a coat of PTFE

- Upgrading study for the alternators' instrumentation to align it with Hydro-Québec's practices

- Upgrading study for the breaking systems of alternators 1 and 2
