Electrolysis process

Since electrolysis plants consume tremendous amounts of energy, their equipment must be carefully selected to ensure the power supply's continuity and quality. Increasing production in existing facilities is also a challenge requiring creative solutions, an area where BBA's multidisciplinary team excels and has successfully completed numerous projects.

Our expertise? A vast experience in electrolytic processes including aluminium, zinc, magnesium, chlorine and copper, as well as post-commissioning and technical assistance services in electrical power supply, automation and industrial data processing. A few examples:  

• Addition of transformer-rectifier units as part of a project aimed at increasing production
• Replacement of transformer-rectifier units and regulating transformers, and increase of the rectifiers' capacity
• Construction supervision and technical assistance: commissioning and operation
• Compliance with harmonic rejection standards and in lieu of impedance studies
• Harmonic pollution metering
• Measurement of the performance of harmonic filters
• Assessment of disruptions on the high voltage system
